A search of the Red River near the Fort Garry Bridge ended with the discovery of the car belonging to Hirenkumar Patel, a Winnipeg man who had been missing since Sunday evening.
Police also recovered a body in the vehicle, but have not confirmed the identity of the person.
The Winnipeg Police Service Dive Unit were seen searching the area early Friday morning. By the afternoon, police announced they have found Patel's red Hyundai Elantra in the river, along with a body.
However the identity and cause of death is unconfirmed. Further details are pending the results of an autopsy.
Patel, 31, was last seen on the evening of June 26 in the East Kildonan area of Winnipeg.
