Winnipeg police are investigating a report of gunfire in the Sobeys parking lot and adjacent field on Taylor Avenue Wednesday.
Patrol Sgt. Matt Lumsden said one person was "possibly" hurt, but police haven’t been able to locate a victim. There was no one at the scene when officers arrived shortly after 1 p.m., he said. Investigators are focusing on a piece of evidence marked by a rock and yellow tape, and corner of the parking lot is taped off.
Sobeys surveillance video is being reviewed in an attempt to identify suspects and vehicles involved, Lumsden said.
Nearby Grant Park High School was locked down for about an hour, beginning at about 1:30 p.m.
Lumsden also said two gun-related calls came in at the same time, stretching police resources. The other was in St. Norbert, but he said it turned out to be a prank.
