Winnipeg Police have charged two people with a total of 42 offences after seizing drugs, a firearm and money from a vehicle in the 1700 block of Pembina Highway.
The firearm, a 9-mm Browning handgun, had been reported stolen in 1981. The gun was loaded with 13 rounds. Officers also found 18.8 grams of methamphetamine and 26.5 grams of cocaine, which they believe was to be sold. Together, the drugs have a street value of $4,940.
"It's a fairly large seizure," said police spokeswoman Const. Tammy Skrabek.
The inspection was triggered when officers spotted the suspicious-looking vehicle with a prohibited driver inside.
Derreck Chad Maddock, 36, faces 23 charges related to firearm possession, drug possession and trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, driving while disqualified and breach of conditions.
Victoria Lee Woods, 26, faces 19 similar charges.
