Sour grapes from Chartrand

Re: Métis leader not clapping about bell (June 20). I think Manitoba Metis Federation president David Chartrand is really mad about only one thing. He did not get to make the announcement on the bell's return to where it truly belongs.

The Bell of Batoche is not tarnished and it has not lost its appeal. The history behind it will never be lost.

You've certainly dropped a clanger this time, David Chartrand. To clumsily paraphrase English poet John Donne, ask not for whom the bell tolls, stop sounding like a dead ringer for a bruised ego, and rejoice that the Bell of Batoche is back in public to toll for thee and every other Métis.
