Garden City Collegiate student Tracie Leost was one of 10 Manitoba students honoured at the 19th annual MTS Young Humanitarian Awards at the Fairmont Winnipeg on May 25.
The Grade 12 student received the award for her 115-kilometre run in support of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
She was also honoured for her work at school in fighting the stigma against mental illness, which included spearheading the #7OaksTalks Mental Health initiative this past April.
In May, Leost received the Gerrie Hammond Memorial Award of Promise at the 2016 YMCA-YWCA Women of Distinction Gala.
