Shoppers’ delight at local craft sales

I’m trying to stay away from the phrase “’tis the season” until at least December — however, this is the time of year when Winnipeg’s artisans, crafters and makers take advantage of the impending Christmas season and their utmost to entice people to sell their wares.

DreamstimeYes, it’s that time of year. Be sure to check our weekly community calendar for listings of holiday concerts, craft shows and sales.

Many community centres and church groups are holding their annual holiday craft and bake sales, in the next few weeks, so I have added a Craft Shows and Sales section to the listings below to help you navigate your way through where and when these sales can be found. After all, holiday craft sales are as much a Manitoba tradition as socials and fall suppers.

The good folks at Travel Manitoba also recognize this, and you can also check their page for a more complete guide to sales being held all over the province.

The eagle-eyed among you will also note an uptick in holiday concert listings in our Out and About and Concerts listings sections, and I’ll be doing my best to provide you with updates on everything that crosses my desk in the next few weeks. If you are involved with a group that is putting on a holiday show or event, feel free to send me the details at john.kendle@freepress.mb.ca

One of the purposes of Community Calendar is to offer a select list of upcoming events and to encourage people to submit their events listings to our online events page.

To submit your listings, click on the Events listings tab in the menu bar at www.fpcommunityreview.com

If you would like to submit an event and want to bypass all the key-pressing, you can do it here and if you simply want to see what’s going on around town, you can do so here

If you received this email from a friend and would like to subscribe, sign up here.

I’ll be back in your inboxes on Dec. 4, as I am taking next week off to get some things done in and around our house.

Enjoy the week!
