Family members embraced Tiba Al Abdellah on the Hug Rug at the Richardson International Airport following a long journey from Lebanon.

Al Abdellah is the second person to arrive in Winnipeg sponsored by the South Osborne Syrian Refugee Initative (SOSRI).

She landed in Winnipeg on Nov.14. The 21-year-old was also greeted by her brother Tarek who arrived weeks earlier.

SOSRI is a community led, grassroots organization drawing support from the Fort Rouge community and Churchill Park United Church. The group has sponsored a total of 13 people from Syria who are all related to Winnipeggers Joseph Chaeban and Zainab Ali.

SOSRI is waiting on arrival dates for the rest of the family members.
