Staying active in Macdonald
Macdonald Services to Seniors offers a GEMS (Greet, Eat and Meet) seniors program for seniors living in the RM of Macdonald and surrounding areas. The cost is $10 per person and lunch is served at noon in Starbuck Hall, 5 Main St., on Wednesdays and in the Sanford Legion at noon on Thursdays.
Please call Leanne Wilson at 204-735-3052 to sign up by the Monday before each weekly meal.

Great food at fall suppers
St. Francois Xavier Community Club at 983 Hwy. 26 is holding its annual fall supper on Sun., Oct. 20 with sittings at 4 and 6 p.m.
There will be a bake sale, 50/50 and cheesecake draws at each sitting.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children age four to 10, and free for children age three and under.

St. Charles Headingley United Church is holding its annual fall supper on Sun., Nov. 3 in the Headingley Community Centre, 5353 Portage Ave., with seatings at 4, 5 and 6 p.m.
The cost is $15 for adults, $8 for children age six to 12, and free for those age five and under.

Wresting set for Fannystelle, Portage
Canadian Wrestling’s Elite is coming to Fannystelle on Fri., Oct. 18 at Fannystelle Community Hall to raise funds for the hall.
See the CWE’s champion "Hotshot" Danny Duggan, former champion "Outlaw" Adam Knight, CWE 123Approved.ca hardcore champion Cliff Corleone,and many more.
Happy hour starts at 6 p.m. and wrestling at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.

The CWE’s The Juice Is On The Loose Tour is also coming to Portage la Prairie on Wed., Nov. 6 at Portage Collegiate Institute (65 3 St SW) in the West Gymnasium in support of the Portage Bear Clan. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and wrestling starts at 7 p.m.

Shopping for great gifts
The annual Scattered Seeds Craft Market is set for Red River Exhibition Park from Oct. 17 to 20.
Shoppers can pre-shop on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. with tickets costing $15. They must be purchased online and in advance. Doors are open on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for an $8 entry fee, and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. for $8. Children age 12 and under get free admission.

The 13th annual Christmas Arts and Crafts Sale is planned on Fri., Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sat., Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Headingley Community Centre, 5353 Portage Ave.
Admission is $2, with children age 12 and under admitted free. Parking is free.
Phoenix Recreation Association is also holding a 2nd annual Holiday Vendor and Bake Sale on Sun., Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Headingley Community Club, 5353 Portage Ave.

The St. Francois Xavier Historical Society members invite local residents to visit their pumpkin labyrinth and quilt show on the grounds of Medicine Rock Heritage Park and inside Breland House on Hwy. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sun., Oct. 20.

A creepy good time
Ghosts and goblins should mark their calendars for Phoenix Recreation Association’s Halloween Howl on Sat., Oct. 26 from 7 to 11 p.m. in the Headingley Community Centre, 5353 Portage Ave.
Kids can enjoy a fun time from 7 to 9 p.m. followed by music and dancing for adults.
