According to Blush Massage + Beauty Bar’s website, “Self-confidence is a superpower. Once you start to believe in yourself, the magic will start to happen.”

Since opening on Aug. 30 at 703 St. Anne’s Rd., across the street from Southglen Shopping Centre, the magic has been flowing at Blush.

“Our Royalwood clients are so excited that we are close by,” said Blush founder Kelly Gosselin, a resident of Bonavista and married mother of two.

Massages and facials have been Blush’s most popular services. Blush also offers lash and brow services, body hair removal via sugaring or waxing, teeth whitening, and local beauty products.

Gosselin described Blush as a body-positive space:

“We look after the details to make people feel welcomed and accepted exactly the way they are.,” she said. “There is no judgement, only comfort and acceptance. Everybody, of all genders, deserves to feel amazing and relaxed in a professional setting.

“Coming into Blush should be like coming home.”

Before she opened, Gosselin said it was critical that she gathered a team of fully licensed, professional women.

“We have registered massage therapists and technicians who have been through formal, accredited training,”she said. “They are fully qualified and meet strict provincial and national standards for skills and safety.”

With 10 years of experience in banking, financial services and insurance, Gosselin was inspired to launch her own venture through working with numerous small business owners.

“I wanted to build my own business and set an example for my children to teach them that a 9-to-5 career isn’t the only option, that you can work hard to follow and grow your own passion.”

Gosselin has five key pieces of advice for budding entrepreneurs:

1. It’s not going to go the way you want;

2. Feel all the feelings. You can’t get through it if you don’t;

3. You need to have a support system and recognize them;

4. Patience, so much patience;

5. Dream big.

In the coming years, Gosselin plans to open a second location to provide hair, nail, and makeup services in addition to Blush’s current offerings.

“I’m a working mom and I understand that people don’t have time to schedule half-a-dozen different appointments at separate locations. Life is crazy and I want to create a one-stop place to ease stress and help everyone feel as wonderful as they should.”

Bookings at Blush can be made online at www.blushwpg.com, or by calling 204-306-4898. Direct billing to health insurance providers is available.
