International Women’s Day events in Winnipeg
International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8.
The Government of Canada’s theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is “Every Woman Counts”. According to the government’s website, the theme serves as a “reminder that all women, from all ages and walks of life, have a place in every aspect of Canadian society, including in economic, social and democratic spheres.”
A number of events and gatherings will be held in Winnipeg to mark the occasion, including the following:
Manitoba Women in Construction — IWD mixer, Low Life Barrel House (398 Daly St. N) from 5 to 8 p.m.
Clan Mothers March — North Point Douglas Women’s Centre (221 Austin St. N) at 5:15 p.m.
Cultural Celebration — Ethiopian Society of Manitoba (215 Selkirk Ave.) from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Fortify — IWD Dinner and Celebration, 100-123 Marion St. from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tickets start at $63.56.
RRC Polytech — IWD Panel Talk: Embracing Equity, 2055 Notre Dame Ave. from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Free.
Hustler’s Roundtable: Female Focused Businesses — Mona Lisa Ristorante Italiano (1697 Corydon Ave.) 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets start at $27.96.
Winnipeg Women’s Jazz Orchestra — Thursday, March 9 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the West End Cultural Centre (586 Ellice Ave.). Tickets $42, $30 for students and those under 30.
Winnipeg Women’s Conference — Monday, March 13 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Winnipeg Art Gallery (300 Memorial Blvd.).
