International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8.
The Government of Canada’s theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is “Every Woman Counts”. According to the government’s website, the theme serves as a “reminder that all women, from all ages and walks of life, have a place in every aspect of Canadian society, including in economic, social and democratic spheres.”
A number of events and gatherings will be held in Winnipeg to mark the occasion, including the following:

Winnipeg Women’s Jazz Orchestra — Thursday, March 9 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the West End Cultural Centre (586 Ellice Ave.). Tickets $42, $30 for students and those under 30.
Winnipeg Women’s Conference — Monday, March 13 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Winnipeg Art Gallery (300 Memorial Blvd.).
