SUMMARY:Charleswood Art Group Show and Sale
DESCRIPTION:The Charleswood Art Group would like to invite Winnipeg areas to join us in celebrating our 75th anniversary at our annual Art Show and Sale. We have 45 established and emerging artists participating in the show this year with a wide variety of pieces of original framed and ready-to-frame fine art along with prints and art cards all available for sale. We kick off the weekend with a Wine and Cheese evening which is a great chance to meet and greet the artists in a festive environment. Each year we have an art raffle to recognize the value of art in all areas of our lives. 100% of the proceeds from the Art Raffle goes to the CancerCare Art Therapy Program. \nOf note\, our group has received a lot of attention and recognition: we are thrilled to have been featured in the Free Press as well as on CTV morning live. We have a 3 page spread in the Charleswood Neighbours and Winnipeg West Magazines and we were recognized by the Roblin MLA\, Kathleen Cook. Her office created a Private Members Statement about our group that was read in the Legislature on March 17th and entered into the province’s history books. Members of the group were on hand to witness this. It was very exciting! \nHope to see you there\, and please feel free to share this invitation with others! \nCharleswood Art Group Show and Sale \nLocation: Charleswood United Church: 4820 Roblin Blvd at Dieppe \nWhen: Friday\, April 24th 5-9pm – Opening Night with Wine and Cheese \nSaturday\, April 25th 10 – 4pm and \nSunday\, April 26th 12 – 4pm \nAdmission is Free \nFacebook: Charleswood Art Group \nWebsite: charleswoodartgroup.com \nIG: @charleswoodartgroup

SUMMARY:TedXWaverley
DESCRIPTION:We live in a world running at full volume. Updates\, algorithms\, opinions\, pressure. Amid all that noise\, harmony feels like a luxury. But what if harmony isn’t quietness\, it’s clarity? What if balance isn’t the middle point between extremes\, but the art of knowing when to move\, when to pause\, and when to listen?\nTEDxWaverley was born to be that space: a human-scale event where ideas\, art\, and emotion meet in perfect tempo. We believe intelligence is not only rational\, it’s emotional\, intuitive\, and shared. When we mix logic with empathy\, data with music\, and ambition with kindness\, something new happens: wisdom emerges.\nOur goal is to help people feel and think better\, not just know more. We don’t sell tickets: we craft experiences that give people back a sense of balance\, between doing and being\, learning and resting\, thinking and feeling. We want every talk\, every pause\, every sound and color in the room to remind people of one truth: that progress and peace can coexist.\nAs a team\, we’re the guardians of calm in a noisy world. We design with empathy\, communicate with transparency\, and keep our focus on people\, not metrics. Our success isn’t measured in followers or views\, it’s measured in the quiet “Oh! Now I get it” moments our audience carries home.\nTEDxWaverley stands for creative thought with human warmth. For elegance without ego. For innovation with purpose. This is HARMONY: The Art of Balance\, not a slogan\, but the rhythm we live and work by.

SUMMARY:On the Long Road to Reconciliation: A story exchange
DESCRIPTION:Community Works Manitoba has scheduled a second retrospective screening of short video stories produced by community members. Six storytellers\, 3 Indigenous and 3 non-Indigenous\, will screen short personal videos and then reflect on the production process and on the role of stories in their life journeys. This will be followed by a Q & A and with the opportunity for audience members to continue the conversation over refreshments in the theatre foyer. \nOur last retrospective screening in Jan. 2025 called Strangers No More: Stories of Culture and Identity was extraordinary. We look forward to having you join us for this second screening. Tickets are free but you need to register. \nHere’s a comment from an audience member from the last event. We know that the May event will offer the Winnipeg community a rich experience. \n“My heart is full with a bushel of stories. Six amazing lived experience stories. Tender. Some big\, some small\, but every story significant and every story a gift. I thought my heart would burst.” Cate Friesen\, The Story Source
