MP responds to criticism
To the editor:
Re: “Make use of rural Service Canada offices,” letter to the editor, May 25:
I found Ken Werbiski’s logic, and his criticism of me serving my constituents by hosting a one-stop passport clinic last month in Portage la Prairie, utter nonsense. I hesitated to reply to his assertion, that when I do my job, which is serving the people who elected me, it takes work away from others. This claim is ridiculous and flies in the face of any service an elected public office holder provides.
It is surprising that Mr. Werbiski doesn’t understand the role of a Member of Parliament given he ran for the job in the last federal election.
I can assure Mr. Werbiski, and all of my constituents in Portage-Lisgar, that I will continue to serve them and help them in any way I can, regardless of criticism from some. It is my job, and I count it as a privilege.
Candice Bergen
MP for Portage-Lisgar
