One local business is taking strides to help less fortunate Winnipeggers this winter.
Lakewood Foot Clinic, located at 96 Drake Blvd. in Windsor Park, is holding a shoe drive until the end of December. The initiative is taking place through the Manitoba Podiatry Association and will benefit Siloam Mission.
Community members are invited to drop off all kinds of men’s and women’s gently-used footwear (except for heels). Boots and warm shoes are especially welcome in light of the harsh winter climate, organizers say.

“The goal of the shoe drive is to bring better and warmer shoes to Winnipeggers who are less fortunate, as our winters are severely harsh, and they need a helping hand,” said Wendy Pendulak, who works in administration at the clinic, noting this is the first time the business has held a shoe drive.
“We are just looking for Winnipeggers to give gently-used shoes a second chance and we are at an easy location to drop them off.”
The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and shoes can be dropped off at the front desk.
