Hey there, time traveller!

In our neighbourhood, we have a number of individuals who contribute so much to their community.

One such resident is Dr. Anju Bajaj, a renowned teacher at Holy Cross School who goes the extra mile for her students. She is also a founder, co-ordinator, and organizer of the nationally accredited Bison Regional Science Fair for independent, Catholic, and home schools, which is not only extensive, but showcases some of the brightest young minds in the province.

Winners of the fair compete at the national and international levels, with all of their expenses allocated by Dr. Bajaj from various means of fundraising and science activities throughout the year. Anju is the kind of educator who nurtures young minds to excel, and in doing so, allows student talents to flourish, paving the way for bright futures ahead in Manitoba.

In honour of her diligence and professionalism in education, she was the 2019-2020 recipient of the teaching excellence sward at Manitoba’s Excellence in Education Awards.

This award provides an opportunity for the province to celebrate dedicated, and caring educators, such as Dr. Bajaj, who go above and beyond their duties to not only teach but inspire students to be at their best. The admiration and respect she has earned from her school community is a direct result of the profound, and positive impact that she has had on student learning and engagement.

Anju was also recently honored with a Global Citizenship Award for Educators by the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation in recognition of her leadership in promoting global citizenship.

In her case, she was selected in large part due to her sustainable development initiatives at the school, community, and global levels. She is also a previous recipient of both the outstanding educator of the year award from the Bioscience Association of Manitoba, and the science teacher of the year award, from the Manitoba Teachers Society.

I am honoured to recognize Dr. Bajaj for all of her hard work and dedication, and am proud that she is a resident of our Lagimodiere community.
