First-ever tattoo convention

Winnipeg will see its first tattoo convention, hosted Aug. 18 to 20 at Red River Exhibition Park.
The event aims to bring over 200 tattoo artists from the around the world together to showcase their work through live tattooing.

“Manitoba truly has a world class arts and tattoo community. We are honoured to be hosting over 200 of the best men and women working in the medium today,” convention director of operations and owner of Kapala Tattoo in Winnipeg Rich Handford said. “It is such a privilege to host an event of this calibre here in our hometown.”

In addition to Canadian tattoo artists, the convention will be hosting visiting artists from the United States, Australia, New Zealand, England, Spain and Germany.

Community garage sale

Buy and sell at the upcoming community garage sale, taking place Sat., June 10 at the Westdale Community Centre (550 Dale Blvd.) from 9:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Tables can be rented for $25, and participants are welcome to take part in a barbecue and family activities.

All proceeds from table rentals and the barbecue go towards rink maintenance.

St. Matthews Avenue to reopen June 2

St. Matthews Avenue continues to be completely closed between Goulding to Dominion Street. The City of Winnipeg has stated that the street will reopen on June 2.

Pedestrian sidewalks will remain open during that time.

Showing Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat

The Dramatic Theatre Company will be showing a rendition of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Dramatic Arts Centre (585 Ellice Ave.) from May 30 to June 4.
The classic musical features lyrics and music written by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, respectively.
