Hey there, time traveller!

I was pleased and honoured to accept the Premier’s appointment as manitoba’s Special Envoy for Military Affairs as Waverley MLA Jon Reyes moves into his new role as the Economic Development and Jobs Minister.

St. James-Assiniboia has a long and proud history with the Canadian Armed Forces in our community because of the 17 Wing Canadian Forces Base. We host and house many of Canada’s military personnel and certainly recognize their significant contributions to the province of Manitoba.

I have in the past participated in many 17 Wing events and commemorations and I look forward to this new opportunity to better understand the needs of our military personnel.

In my new role I will serve as the provincial government’s official point of contact for military members and their families, in both regular and reserve force units. I will liaise with the Canadian Armed Forces and Military Family Resource Centres to enhance provincially-delivered services to provide better outcomes for members of the military, their families and our veterans.

My duties also include promoting and commemorating Manitoba’s military history and the significant contributions of Manitobans to Canada’s military history. I look forward to this responsibility and service.

As I write this, we have surpassed two of the three milestones outlined in Manitoba’s 4–3–2–One Great Summer re-opening path. I would like to extend my heartfelt thank you to all Manitobans for this overwhelming success as we are seeing the easing of more COVID-19 restrictions and get closer to seeing all services, facilities and businesses re-open, with limited restrictions in some cases.

Constituents who have received two vaccine doses and waited two weeks can apply for an immunization card from Shared Health.

To do this you must first register online to create an account using your name, date of birth, Manitoba Health family registration number and personal health information number along with a unique username and password. Once you complete that step you can log into your account to retrieve your current COVID-19 immunization record.

Please allow up to 10 days for the information to become available online. The physical immunization cards will be mailed as soon as possible, so be sure your address is current with Manitoba Health.

Should any Assiniboia constituents require assistance with their requests for immunization cards and/or immunization records, please feel free to contact my constituency office at 204-615-6044 or via email at assiniboiamla@outlook.com for your questions and concerns.
