The candidates running for school trustee in the Winnipeg School Division – Ward 1 are Heather Cardona, Paul Guise, Luigi Imbrogno, David Lobson, Sheri Oberman, Sherri Rollins, and Marilyn Simon. (Note: Candidates were asked to provide their ages. Many did not do so.)

Luigi Imbrogno
Luigi Imbrogno is a student at the University of Manitoba hoping to graduate with a double major in microbiology and political science.
Imbrogno said if elected he aims to strongly emphasize fiscal responsibility as well as safe and supportive schools for all children.
Heather Cardona
Heather Cardona is a homeopathic physician who is running for school trustee because she believes in the importance of a strong public school system.
If elected, Cardona said she will be a careful and questioning steward of tax dollars, and will support policies to help build strong learning communities.
Paul Guise
Paul Guise, 42, works as a consultant who helps people and institutions in the cultural sector to understand business skills.
Guise is running for school trustee because he is passionate about education and wants to share that passion with the community. Guise is committed to listening, communicating, and advocating on behalf of children and educators in the community.
Sheri Oberman
Sheri Oberman, 59, is an assessment specialist for the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre.
Oberman said the skills gained at her day job will help her as trustee, if elected. Oberman also studied distance education at the doctoral level, gaining insights to equip students in the Winnipeg School Division to thrive in the economy.
David Lobson
David Lobson is a small business owner with experience in accounting, trades, and finance.
Lobson believes those skills will help him as a trustee. Lobson will advocate for lower taxes, recorded votes at board meetings and decisions made in stakeholders’ interests.
Sherri Rollins
Sherri Rollins is a full-time policy analyst with the provincial government.
Rollins is running for school trustee because she stands for creating safe and inclusive schools, strengthening home and school partnerships, and continuing the examination of all-day kindergarten.
Marilyn Simon
Marilyn Simon is an English literature instructor at the University of Manitoba and the Canadian Mennonite University. Simon has also taught at the junior high and high school levels. Simon is running for trustee because her experience in education has given her a broad perspective on the educational issues that face teachers and students.
