"Right from the get-go, Keith and I decided that there was no rush releasing this album," Renee Lamoureux said.
"We wanted to take our time to write and find the proper songs. It was important to us to show up with our best music, this being our sixth album, and making it even better than the last. We opened ourselves up to the opportunity of recording other artists’ material as well as our own, which was a whole new experience."
Inspiration for the new album came from many places but all the songs seem to capture and comment various aspects of relationships.
"Songs like These Four Wheels and Steamboat allude to the number of years Renee and I have travelled all around the world and literally lived out of a rental car playing music," added Keith Macpherson.
The musicians agree that being from Winnipeg has helped their creative process.
"When I really think about it, our cold winters have encouraged artists to go inward and create music in our basements for half the year, so this really does foster some well-crafted music and creative expression," Macpherson said.
"I am so proud to be from this city because of our incredible music scene. Everywhere we travel we are constantly reminded by music fans and other artists on the road that Winnipeg is a hotbed of musical talent. I love Winnipeg for its dedication to the arts and culture scene."
In support of the new album, Keith and Renee will be touring across Canada and parts of the USA this spring.
"We will also be releasing a new single from the album with Warner Music/Road Angel and we will be shooting a music video to support the new single as well," Macpherson said.
Visit iTunes to purchase the new album or you can buy a physical copy locally at HMV, McNally Robinson, Into the Music, Music Trader and the Winnipeg Folk Festival store.
