Tachinski signs with Penn State

Fort Garry’s Victoria Tachinski has committed to attend Pennsylvania State University on a track and field scholarship.

The Vincent Massey Collegiate student and track athlete is the holder of the Canadian junior women 400 and 800-metre records.

She also competed with Team Canada at the World U20 Track and Field Championships in Poland earlier this year. She won bronze anchoring the 4×400-metre relay team.

Penn State is an NCAA Division I school, located in State College, Penn.

Canada Summer Games tickets now on sale

Tickets for 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg are now available at Ticketmaster.

Billed as the largest multi-sport and cultural event in Canada, the games will run July 28 through Aug. 13 at venues throughout the city. 

At the moment, only ticket packages (including opening and closing ceremonies and family discounts) and weekly passes are available. Weekly passes start at $69 each.

Tickets for individual sports or day passes will be available in the New Year, officials said.

A seasonal merchandise kiosk is now open at St. Vital Centre selling official 2017 Canada Summer Games gear. The kiosk will close Dec. 31.
