Busy springtime in Burrows
Hey there, time traveller!

This year has already been busy and exciting in my constituency office in Burrows. I would like to take this opportunity to update folks in Burrows about some of the projects I have been involved with so far this year.
February was I Love to Read Month and though it looked a bit different than in previous years, I was happy to still be able to engage with the community. I had the pleasure of filming videos and completing online readings for the young minds in the area. Thank you to the staff and teachers at Lord Nelson, Elwick, Robertson, and King Edward schools for allowing me to connect with some of your classes. It was a delight to receive feedback that the stories I read sincerely resonated with students.
I have also been speaking with many taxi operators in the community who have expressed concerns about access to financial support through the Manitoba Bridge Grant program.
Together, we have been able to organize a petition calling for improved access to the grant for taxi operators. I am grateful to each taxi operator that has reached out to me to let me know about their concerns.
In February, I participated in the Finger Prick Challenge – you may have seen the video that I posted on my Facebook page. This challenge is designed to raise awareness about the need for increased coverage for diabetes supplies in Manitoba. Continuous glucose monitors, in particular, are of major importance and are not covered by insurance. The Finger Prick Challenge allowed me to understand the importance of these devices, as they significantly reduce the amount of finger pricks that a person living with diabetes must perform in a day. It is my hope to see CGMs covered for all, as it is essential health care that improves the lives of people living with diabetes.
Finally, you may have received a phone call from one of my office team members. We are currently making phone calls to all Burrows constituents to check in and let you know that we are here to help you with any support you may need. I am very happy that I have been able to hire several young people from the community to help with this initiative. I would like to thank all community members who have spoken with my team so far, through these engagements we have learned how to better serve the community in Burrows.
I look forward to continued engagements with folks in Burrows and across Manitoba throughout the year ahead.
Reach out to my office any time and let us know how we can support you. Please send insights to my email at email@example.com or call 204-415-7621. Our constituency office is located at Unit 1, 995 McPhillips St.
