Ralph Brown Community Centre is offering a chance to teach the younger set the value of good cooking.
The centre is offering free cooking classes for kids ages nine to 13 years old. The drop-in program “shows our community youth that healthy eating can be delicious,” according to the centre’s website.
During the program, kids will learn how to read recipes, how to handle food safely, and the finer points of stirring, sautéeing, baking and boiling. They’ll also learn about portion sizes and food presentation.
The class is held Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. The next class, on March 19, will teach kids how to prepare apple strudels.
