Next week seems like a great time to fly a kite in south Winnipeg.<\/p>\n

In celebration of Canadian Multiculturalism Day, The Korea Times is preparing to hold its first Kite Flying Competition. The event, which is funded by the federal government, is intended to embrace the ethnic and cultural diversity of Canada. All are welcome.<\/p>\n

The newspaper is set to hold two events to celebrate the occasion. The first, called Creating Kites, will be held at Grant Park Shopping Centre (1120 Grant Ave.) on Fri., June 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Organizers say a team can either be made up of an individual or a family. Kite-making supplies will be provided to the first 30 participants, and there will be awards for the best four teams.<\/p>\n

The second event, titled Flying Kites Outside, will be held at Maple Grove Rugby Park (190 Frobisher Rd.) on Sat., June 27 between 3 and 7 p.m. Participants from the previous day’s event are invited to bring their kites to the session, buy a kite at the event, or bring their own. The best four teams will receive awards.<\/p>\n
