Bulla Arts International Inc. held its third Annual Talent Show on Sat., July 8 at the Pantages Playhouse Theatre (180 Market Ave.).<\/div>\n

More than 1,000 people attended the event, which showcased almost 200 artists performing onstage, aged four to 40 years old, most of whom live in the Maples, Amber Trails and West Kildonan areas.<\/p>\n

There were a mix of filming, folk dance, creative dance, theatre and comedy with great diversity reflected on each work.<\/p>\n

Kids aged 10 to 15 years old presented a skit reflecting the generation gap and a mime themed “Side effects of telephone.”<\/p>\n

Bulla Arts kids’ dads performed a folk dance called jhoomar, a slow and colourful show.<\/p>\n

Struggle, relationships and financial issues were highlighted in a theatrical play about immigrants’ lives.<\/p>\n

Bulla Leadership Awards were presented to three young people — Harmanpreet Singh, Sabhjeet Kaur and Dharmjit Singh Dhillon — for their achievements in the fields of journalism, theatre\/academics and sports respectively. These awards are a regular feature of Bulla Arts to provide the next generation with role models, and to motivate them to obtain careers in their fields of interest.<\/p>
