Headingley RCMP issued a quarterly report for July 1 to Sept. 30, 2017 comparing data from this year to the same period in 2016.<\/p>\n

The report states that totals calls for service during the reporting period were 546 compared to 422 on 2016. The increase is attributed to more traffic enforcement.<\/p>\n

Acting head for the Headingley detachment Sgt. Major Wayne Foster said property crimes have somewhat decreased in the area, possibly due to efforts by the RCMP and citizens’ groups to alert property owners about theft risks such as unlocked vehicles and garages.<\/p>\n

“It doesn’t take long for two people to pull up in a trailer and load an ATV,” he said, noting that people should be aware of this risk for snowmobiles in the winter.<\/p>\n

He advises local residents to sign on to the Headingley Families and La Salle Talk Facebook pages to stay up-to-date on community activities.<\/p>\n

Headingley RCMP detachment members have visited most local schools in the 2017-18 school year. School lockdown drills are planned in the coming months.<\/p>\n
