FortWhyte Alive (1961 McCreary Rd.), is holding a natural shoreline planting event on Sat., May 5 at 10 a.m. and noon with guest experts from Manitoba Conservation Districts Association.<\/p>\n

Part of MCDA’s mandate is to improve the health of Manitoba’s watersheds through shoreline restoration and habitat protection projects. Audrey Boitson of East Interlake Conservation District, and Chris Randall of Seine-Rat River Conservation District will share their knowledge and teach you how they identify and lead restoration projects and use native plants.<\/p>\n

Volunteers will be provided with gloves and planting tools, and will take part in the planting, gaining skills that they can use to remediate riverside or lakeside property.<\/p>\n

Participants should wear rubber boots, and long pants and sleeves.<\/p>\n

After work is done, enjoy bannock over the fire, and stick around to participate in a fun kids’ craft of willow crowns from 1 to 3 p.m., while supplies last.<\/p>\n
