Winnipeg hosts ball hockey championships <\/div>\n
Winnipeg played host to the 2018 Senior National Canadian Ball Hockey Championships at the Bell MTS Iceplex and Keith Bodley Arena from Aug. 6 to 11. <\/div>\n
The event started on Aug. 6 with a tribute to deceased Humboldt Broncos captain and former Team Manitoba ball hockey player, Logan Schatz. The Canadian Ball Hockey Association and the Manitoba Ball Hockey Association also announced the creation of an award in Schatz’s name for the top junior ball hockey player of the year.<\/div>\n
The Edmonton Savages won the men’s A finals with a 4-1 victory over the Newfoundland Black Horse.  Calgary United beat the Ottawa Capitals 1-0 in overtime to become the 2018 women’s A champions. The masters title went to Newfoundland and Labrador’s Colonial Auto Parts team with a 2-1 win over the Alberta Havoc.<\/div>\n
Wesmen soccer teams up with the King’s Head <\/div>\n
University of Winnipeg Wesmen women’s soccer fans have a new place to meet for pre- and post-game fun. <\/div>\n
The Wesmen athletics department has teamed up with the King’s Head Pub (120 King St.), for the 2018 soccer season. <\/div>\n
Wesmen supporters are invited to meet at the pub on game days two hours before kickoff for appetizers and beverages. <\/div>\n
Buses will be available to transport fans between the King’s Head and the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex before and after each game. <\/div>\n
The partnership launches at the Wesmen home openers on Sept. 14 against Fraser Valley and Sept. 15 against Trinity Western.<\/div>\n<\/p>\n
