Head coach Kirkland Harper never would have guessed that he would have 35 players suited up for the Bulldogs homecoming game last Thursday night against the St. John’s Tigers, but there we were.  <\/p>\n

A mighty bunch gathered on the sideline excited to hit the field.  The Bulldogs ended up losing a hard-fought game that night although the season is promising; you could say that the team has potential.<\/p>\n

Potential: one coach described it as an opportunity. At this point, the goal has not been achieved, although the occasion is there to make it something special.  I haven’t seen such potential in a Bulldog football team for the past few years and possibly as far back as the 2010 season when the Dawgs lost in the semifinal (to the eventual champions) in the Potter division. The years have been a struggle of ups and downs since then with difficulties even having enough guys dressed on the sideline for a game.<\/p>\n

As the weather turns cold there is a warm feeling here at the school. There is a different dynamic to the team and the guys seem to be understanding the football philosophy. A mentality of being a family, working hard together through the good times and the tough. Little things show me this; they take pride in their locker room, leaving it clean each night and they all come to the pre game meals socializing together.<\/p>\n

“Every part in a team is just as important as another and if these guys can understand their role in this team then we will have a successful season,” coach Harper said.<\/p>\n
