It’s that time of year when the patios get swept off, the bicycles start to come out of hibernation and the smell of barbecue is in the air. <\/div>\n
A big thanks to those community members who pitch in and help clean up our neighbourhoods at this messy time of year, many hands make light work and we all appreciate having a clean community. <\/div>\n
Earlier this month it was Caregiver Recognition Day, and I had the pleasure of recognizing Janet Jackman at the Legislative Building on April 2 for her dedication to caregiving in our community. Caregivers play an integral role in helping seniors to age in place and remain in their homes and communities for as long as possible.<\/div>\n
 This year our government reduced red tape for the Primary Caregiver Tax Credit, helping ensure that our caregivers have access to supports that help them carry on with the important task of caring for loved ones. This tax credit can be claimed by anyone providing ongoing voluntary care to a family member, friend or neighbor in Manitoba.<\/div>\n
Also in April, I enjoyed the visit at the legislature by some students from St. Charles Catholic School! Twenty-one students came by to take a tour, listen in on question period and enjoy some snacks in the office before grabbing a few photos to mark the occasion. The kids asked some great questions, and informed me that they have their own elections to choose a class Prime Minister — how wonderful to hear our future leaders embracing the democratic process early on.<\/div>\n
