{"id":572451311,"date":"2020-09-18T09:11:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-18T14:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.winnipegfreepress.com\/our-communities\/herald\/2020\/09\/18\/prairie-crocus-celebrates-year-at-new-location"},"modified":"2020-09-18T09:19:30","modified_gmt":"2020-09-18T14:19:30","slug":"prairie-crocus-celebrates-year-at-new-location","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.winnipegfreepress.com\/our-communities\/herald\/2020\/09\/18\/prairie-crocus-celebrates-year-at-new-location","title":{"rendered":"Prairie Crocus celebrates year at new location"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"width: 1px;height: 1px;overflow: hidden\">Despite a global pandemic, Prairie Crocus Thrift Shop has had a successful first year at their new location.<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"width: 1px;height: 1px;overflow: hidden\">The shop, which relocated from 930 Nairn Ave. to 919 McLeod Ave. last fall, is a non-profit venture that runs thanks to the hard work of volunteers.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"width: 1px;height: 1px;overflow: hidden\">&ldquo;It&rsquo;s been a crazy, fabulous year,&rdquo; said Candy Anaka-Par&eacute;, a volunteer and board member of Prairie Crocus. &ldquo;The community has been so supportive.&rdquo;<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"width: 1px;height: 1px;overflow: hidden\">According to Anaka-Par&eacute;, business at the new locattion was going well and picking up steam early in 2020.<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"width: 1px;height: 1px;overflow: hidden\">&ldquo;Then COVID hit,&rdquo; she said.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"width: 1px;height: 1px;overflow: hidden\">The shop, like most places, closed down.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"width: 1px;height: 1px;overflow: hidden\">&ldquo;We were worried,&rdquo; Anaka-Par&eacute; admitted. &ldquo;But since we opened again, we&rsquo;ve been gangbusters. We&rsquo;ve been able to raise so much more for our programs.
