As we continue to live through the COVID-19 pandemic, there is light at the end of the tunnel with vaccinations in full swing. <\/div>\n
The pandemic has forced us to take our leisure activities outdoors and with that we have seen a re-emergence of interest in golf. Founded in 1931, the Transcona Golf Club is home to an 18-hole course at 2120 Dugald Rd. Over the past year, TGC has seen its fair share of new faces.<\/div>\n
“A lot of 20-to-30-year-olds are picking up the game. We feel very lucky and fortunate to be able to open,” clubhouse manager Jackie McCreedy said. <\/div>\n
The team at TGC have had to adjust their operations to fit within the public health guidelines but they are all grateful to be open. <\/div>\n
The clubhouse restaurant has also been making waves in the community with its signature breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes courtesy of Chef Andrew Laturnus. Laturnus spent four years in England prior to arriving at TGC and his fish and chips have become a staple of the clubhouse menu.<\/div>\n
“I have lived in Transcona for 15 years and I didn’t know until last year that you could come here and enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner,” is something that’s heard a lot at TGC.<\/div>\n
McCreedy said the club’s main goal is to spread the word to the public that they are open for business and that they welcome community to come by for a meal and a round of golf. <\/div>\n
The clubhouse is open to the public seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. <\/div>\n
