When my daughter was younger we used to love going for walks this time of year to look for some of nature’s “treasures” revealed by the melting snow — a stick perfectly suited to becomoing a magic wand, an abandoned pine cone that retained it’s shape perfectly despite months sleeping under the snow, or a tiny rock that has just enough sparkle in it to make it worthwhile carrying home and adding to the collection.<\/p>\n

As a crafter, I still love to find the odd leaf or stick that is just perfect for an ongoing or future project.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, at the time I’m writing this the weather forecast is calling for more snow flurries, which doesn’t make for ideal walking conditions.<\/p>\n

Melting snow can reveal many ‘treasures’ that may have been buried for months. At this point, most of us will settle for green grass.<\/p><\/figcaption>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/figure>\n

Hopefully by the time you are reading this we will back to a warm and sunny spring. Whatever your favourite outdoor spring activities are, I hope you really take the time this year to get outside and enjoy them.<\/p>\n

Here’s a poem I wrote a few years ago about a little needle felted mouse I made.<\/p>\n

I hope it makes you smile today:<\/p>\n

Mother Mouse<\/em><\/p>\n

Mother Mouse is quite the gal,<\/p>\n

So full of spark and wit.<\/p>\n

She says whatever comes to mind,<\/p>\n

And does whatever she sees fit.<\/p>\n

She can be a little nosy,<\/p>\n

Gossipy and crude.<\/p>\n

But when it comes to family,<\/p>\n

She adores her little brood!<\/p>\n

Mother Mouse loves to garden,<\/p>\n

Tends to her roses with devotion.<\/p>\n

But when it’s time to wash the floor,<\/p>\n

She’s moving in slow motion.<\/p>\n

It’s true, she has a temper,<\/p>\n

But her heart is really pure;<\/p>\n

(Just take my advice: don’t make her mad,<\/p>\n

For that there is no cure!)<\/p>
