One of the greatest privileges of my role as the MLA representing Southdale, Windsor Park, Niakwa Park, Niakwa Place and Southland Park is meeting neighbours at their doorsteps to have meaningful conversations.<\/p>\n

This summer, my team and I have been hitting the ground, connecting with hundreds of people across the constituency. These face-to-face conversations are vital. They allow us to listen closely to your priorities and ensure that your voices are shaping the work we do at the Legislature.<\/p>\n

A consistent theme we’ve heard is support for the continuing improvements in healthcare. People have noticed the progress: shorter wait times, more frontline staff being hired, and investments that are helping rebuild a system that suffered seven years of PC cuts. In addition, neighbours are excited to learn about medinav.ca<\/a>, a new online booking system for minor-illness and injury clinics, linking people with practitioners to help take pressure off our emergency rooms. There is still work to do, and your feedback is crucial as we push for even stronger public healthcare services in our community.<\/p>\n

Many of you have shared concerns about the lack of accessible, affordable childcare. Parents are struggling to find spaces that meet their needs. We hear you, and that’s why we are actively building new childcare spaces across the province and have implemented a long overdue increase in wages for early childhood educators that will help attract and retain qualified caregivers so children can learn and grow in safe, nurturing environments.<\/p>\n

More than anything, these summer visits have reminded me just how special our community is. Whether it’s a quick chat on the sidewalk, sharing tips about perennials, or hearing your hopes for our province, connecting with neighbours is the best part of my job.<\/p>\n

Don’t miss our community barbeque at Southdale Community Centre (254 Lakewood Blvd.) on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be food provided by Smokin’ Bob’s and a chance to meet your neighbours and chat with me and my team. Bring your family, bring your questions, and let’s keep the conversation going.<\/p>\n
