Following a public hearing, a rezoning and variance application for 198 Woodbridge Rd., to establish a commercial building on the site of a former church was approved.<\/p>\n
“It’s literally an ideal area to put this particular business and so I think this will be something really good for St. James,” Coun. Shawn Dobson (St. James) said in support. Nobody was registered in opposition.<\/p>\n

“This is optimal use of the land there,” Coun. Evan Duncan (Charleswood-Tuxedo-Westwood) said in support. “There was proper community consultation done … There is an option to have eight spots available for a potential eight units so that would be met in that requirement.”<\/p>\n
A combined subdivision, rezoning, and variance application for a multifamily development at 4506 Grant Ave. was approved by the committee following a public hearing where two people were registered in opposition to the project, a 14-unit multifamily development. The project would include two side-by-side triplex buildings, and four side-by-side duplex buildings, with a total of 27 parking stalls.<\/p>\n
“I think that this is a very modest infill, and it will fit within the context of the community,” Duncan said in support. “I do empathize with the adjacent neighbours and some of the folks that may or may not be impacted by on-street parking, but we can’t control that unless we put either no parking or time-limited parking which creates a whole other issue for those existing residents.”<\/p>
