I always say, if you want the community to show up, host an event at St. John’s Park. The winters are quieter, but it never really feels empty. It is still part of the daily rhythm for many residents.<\/p>\n

You’ll see former churches, schools, and community as spaces that continue to shape the neighbourhood visually and socially.<\/p>\n
The community is very diverse with strong Indigenous, Polish, Ukrainian and Jewish roots contributing to the cultural fabric of the neighbourhood. We don’t just celebrate diversity, we live it everyday in our schools, local organizations and community spaces.<\/p>\n
What really stands out, though, is the sense of community. It’s a neighbourhood where people look out for one another, where individuals and community organizations step up to support those that need help and drive meaningful change. Community pride is evident in local initiatives, neighbourhood clean-ups, and grassroots efforts to improve safety and quality of life.<\/p>\n
Overall, the true character of St. John’s is best understood through the lived experiences of the residents that call it home. I am continually inspired by the people, families, community leaders and helpers who make this neighbourhood such a vibrant and caring place.<\/p>\n
