The Selinger government will train 62 more nurses to treat an aging population and to replace higher numbers of nurses reaching retirement age.

Premier Greg Selinger and Health Minister Theresa Oswald made the announcement today at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Nursing.

The new positions are funded under last week's NDP budget.

The new positions will cost $2.1 million and will see training positions added at the U of M, Universite de Saint-Boniface and Assiniboine College.
