The show can be a little hard to follow, even for adults. Judith Mendelsohn is a capable physical performer, but she sometimes gets lost on the large MTYP stage, leaving the audience scrambling to figure out exactly what is going on. The show might play better in a smaller, more intimate space (sitting up close would probably help, too).
The premise is very sweet and there’s a satisfying resolution to its 42-minute runtime, but Mendelsohn’s intimate performance style gets swallowed up by the expansiveness of the space and the conclusion is less impactful because of it. Nonetheless, there’s good bones here, waiting to be taken to the next level.
