A ten-person troupe of young, Winnipeg actors take on this series of whimsical vignettes about love lost and found under Maine’s northern lights, accompanied by acoustic snippets of soft-rock love songs.
A script by American playwright John Cariani relies on rapid fire, naturalistic, slightly hoser delivery that this troupe of rookie performers can’t quite nail just yet, but that’s what the fringe is for. Directed by Winnipeg theatre vet Cairn Moore, the production is bookended by the two best scenes — a sadsack guy (William Carrette) runs into his old flame (Ella Scratch) at her bachelorette party at the local bar, and a rough and tumble skidoo-riding broad (Maia Woods) tentatively explores her first real love affair. An earnest ensemble piece, sweetly staged.

From the Fringe program:
A series of vignettes take you on a journey to the same fictional town, on the same night, under the same mysterious and beautiful Aurora Borealis. Cariani's Off-Broadway hit broke box office records for a reason. In his characters, we see ourselves in the universal struggle of love, loss and the search for human connection. In doing so, we're reminded of the importance of having a place to call home, a place where the temperature often drops well below zero, a place not unlike Winterpeg, Manisnowba!
