Tom Hendry Warehouse (Venue 6), to July 27
Points for bravery in this local production of an hour-long dramedy by Vanessa Mancini, who also plays an up-and-coming actress called into an off-off-Broadway show minutes before curtain. She will share the stage with a Broadway diva, an action star on a career slide and a self-declared "Method" actor with a personal connection to aforementioned diva. The action shows the convoluted drama going on backstage during a performance.
In a show about theatre, a show’s flaws are amplified with every excessive gesture, with every cornball line ("I made that monologue my bitch!") and every time an actor steps on another actor’s line, which seems to happen a lot here. There’s more madness than Method here. One can only wonder what An Actor Prepares author Konstantin Stanislavski would make of it all.

Blake Dumas thinks he's Method. Kate Northcliffe wasn't supposed to be here today. #GetItUp: An Actor Prepares is your exclusive backstage pass to witness what happens behind the scenes when a fallen Hollywood action hero, a veteran Broadway songstress, a "Method" actor and a green understudy end up in an off-off-Broadway play together.
