It’s a cross all writers have to bear: do you tell the truth, or do you protect the people you love?
Things get messy when filmmaker Sarah Beau-Demers (Joanne Roberts) decides to cast her best friend and actress Alison Carver (Kara-Lynn Kehler) in a film based on Sarah’s (and, therefore, Alison's) life.
Written by local playwright Hannah Foulger, this timely drama covers everything from honesty in art to the complicated dynamics of female friendship. It also turns an unflinching lens on the rampant sexism and harassment that exists in the film industry.
Foulger flips the script, however. Instead of focusing on the misdeeds of soundman/noted creep Roberto the Rash (played to need-a-shower-afterwards perfection by Mat Pilgrim), she addresses the bystanders who let bad things happen — namely Sarah. It’s a compelling story with equally interesting staging — putting a film set on a theatre stage is a canny decision — but the performances just didn't have the nuance required by the script, particularly in the over-boiling pot of a climax.

From the Fringe program:
Sarah Beau-DeMers, a "female filmmaker" from small-town Ontario, will stop at nothing to make her film, a definitely-not autobiographical coming-of-age film. But after a series of compromises, she'll be forced to choose between the people she loves and the film she was born to make. From the writer behind Clink and The Bar Scene Winner of the 2013 Bertsinger Award Sunday, July 21 is a Relaxed Performance welcoming audience members who need a relaxed sensory experience. Production changes reduce light intensity, sound and movement.
