Vancouver-based Fringe perennial T.J. Dawe plays with a full deck of topics in this 75-minute pre-apocalyptic monologue, and this year it’s only natural that he’s holding a fistful of Trump cards.
Shuffling between yarns and theories about war, religion and theme parks, Harry Potter books, X-Men, climate change and more, he connects the dots as he deals in a series of scenarios for how Donald Trump’s presidency could play out. Lock up Hillary? Nuke Mexico? Make America Great Again? Each potential outcome seems more preposterous than the last.
As the title suggests, the story has its ups and downs, but hang on. In a contest between good and evil, Dawe’s heartfelt ace in the hole holds out hope for humanity.
