Oh, those Russians.
And Germans. And Italians. And other assorted vague Europeans. They’re all here in this fast-paced espionage comedy, along with the genre tropes of double- and triple-crosses, shadowy organizations, barely-explained missions, and shifting alliances (a fallen agent is eulogized as a good man, until it’s decided his death would make a better diversion if he was made into a villain).
Each character addresses the audience in an aside, explaining how they are the one who’ll protect everybody from the others. And do the baddies get what they deserve? Well, that’s classified.
The cast is uniformly strong and sharp, although Ben Krawchuk’s turn as loud, aggressive German Heinrich Schewerner could dial back a bit. Special mentions go to Kara Joseph as the smooth, evil Commander Eleanor, and Ian Ingram as the comically conniving yes-man, Frankie. Writers Cuinn and Conner Joseph also make cameo appearances.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to sit back and enjoy.

From the Fringe program:
The Cause is a farce that follows five agents working for a rebellious organization plotting the assassination of a major political figure. Although each agent brings a unique and special set of skills to "The Cause," they all share one important secret: each one is deep undercover, working for a different foreign interest to dismantle "The Cause" from within. As the mission draws nearer, the agents attempt to execute their plan without revealing their true intentions to one another.
