The name of this year’s offering by these veteran improvisers is apt because, like a one-time-only restaurant meal, it promises an experience that won’t be repeated.
The special on July 17 was tasty, a bit saucy and pleasing to the palate of the patrons who were laugh-out-loud engaged as the actors created on the spot a 40-minute scene that involved double-crossing spies, foiled murder attempts and tentative homosexual urges.
The many strengths of Unexpected Results include the ways the actors heighten each other’s creative flashes and bail out those who are floundering.
Although quick of wit and tongue, perhaps they could use body language more effectively.
Shout-outs to their guest performer Jaydin Pommer, whose physical comedy is seriously top-notch, and to keyboardist Simon King, who held the scene together with a soundscape that boosted, but didn’t overpower, the creative geniuses on stage.
