Not My Favourite Daughter’s 60-minute comedy is set in a summer bible camp in 1996, where a quartet of pre-teen girls attempt to work their feelings towards boys, God, each other and themselves against a backdrop of all-out pillow war with the boys. This is very much a nostalgia piece for women who came of age in the ‘90s, replete with period music (Backstreet Boys, Mariah Carey), period fashion (jelly shoes) and … first periods.
This locally-produced and enthusiastically performed show feels a little scattered and random at first, but as combat looms (and Braveheart is quoted), it all meshes together more neatly than a butterfly clip.

From the Fringe program:
We want YOU! Grab a pillow and your favourite flavour of lip smackers.
The girls in cabin five need you for The Great Pillow War. It's 1996 and do you think we're going to let the boys cabin walk all over us again? Ugh. As if!
It's time to enter the war zone - the fluffy, dandruff-filled war zone. From the team that brought you Call Girls (4 STARS - Winnipeg Free Press) comes a new comedy about the battle of going through life as a young teen. All we need is YOU! Come on, soldier!
