Matt Wiebe has been re-elected as MLA for Concordia.
“Across the province, we are going to keep fighting,” Wiebe told supporters at his campaign headquarters as results came in on the evening of Sept. 10. “And next time, we are going to win.”
First elected in 2010 under the New Democratic Party banner, Wiebe was born and raised in northeast Winnipeg. He and his wife, and their two children, still live in the Valley Gardens area. He has been very critical of the closure of Concordia Hospital’s emergency room since it was announced in 2017.

“This (election) is a big step in the right direction,” Wiebe said, before thanking all his volunteers for their efforts on the campaign trail.
Andrew Frank, the Progressive Conservative candidate for Concordia, admitted it was a challenge campaigning during the height of summer. However, he felt that he and his volunteers gave it their all.
“We didn’t leave anything on the table,” Frank said. “And we had a really positive response at the doorstep.”
According to unofficial results, with 36 of 37 polls reporting, Wiebe won with 4,018 votes, while Frank received 2,190.
Maria Albo (Liberal) also ran in Concordia, receiving 557 votes.
