The Manitoba Moose matched their best offensive outing of the season Saturday, routing the Belleville Senators 6-2 at Canada Life Centre.

Forward Jeff Malott led the way with a pair of goals, while Daniel Torgersson, Evan Polei, Cole Maier and Leon Gawanke had single tallies. Forward Alex Limoges and blue-liner Declan Chisholm each had three assists.

Goaltender Arvid Holm stopped 36 of 38 shots for the victory.

Manitoba improves to 13-7-3 on the season, good for third place in the AHL’s Central Division. They are also a stellar 8-1-0 following a loss (3-2 in Calgary on Thursday night). Belleville falls to 11-13-1.

The Moose are severely shorthanded right now, with forwards Michael Eyssimont, Kevin Stenlund and Jansen Harkins all up with the injury-ravaged Winnipeg Jets after starting the year on the farm. Defenceman Ville Heinola is on recall as well, while forward Chaz Lucius is currently on loan to the U.S. World Junior team at their training camp.

Manitoba and Belleville meet again on Sunday at the downtown rink, with puck drop set for 2 p.m.
