The Laredo Lemurs will not operate during the 2017 season and are no longer members of baseball's American Association, commissioner Miles Wolff announced Wednesday.
The Salina Stockade, a member of the Pecos League in 2016, will take the Lemurs' place on the American Association schedule.
A limited number of games originally scheduled for Laredo, Texas will be played at Dean Evans Stadium in Salina, Kan., while the rest will be at the home stadium of the Stockade's opponent. The Stockade's regular season begins May 18 at Wichita.
As a result, a road series involving the defending AA champion Winnipeg Goldeyes, originally scheduled for Laredo from May 22 to 24, will now be played against the Stockade in Salina.
