Sioux City got a quick start, scoring three runs in the first inning. Designated hitter Austin Gallagher hit a double that brought in two runs and added a run of his own on a Bryan Pounds double.

The Goldeyes chipped away at the Explorers' lead in the third. Ray Sadler brought in the first Goldeyes run of the game with a sacrifice fly to score Tyler Graham.

The Explorers would cancel out the run in the top of the fourth when they scored on a sacrifice fly of their own to take a 4-1 lead.

GAMEBREAKERS

Ramon was a force on offence and defence, driving in the game-winning run, cranking three hits with two RBI and making some great plays on the field.

Brendan Lafferty would pick up his third win of the season after closing out the game. He pitched two innings and only allowed one walk.

His strong pitching kept the Explorers off the scoreboard and allowed the Goldeyes to complete the comeback.

KEY PLAY

Ramon had Graham on second base with two outs in the bottom of the ninth with the game tied at four. Determined to avoid extra innings, Ramon hit a centre-field double plate Graham for the game-winning run and bring the crowd of 5,064 fans to their feet.

FISH WRAP

The victory puts the Goldeyes 8-1/2 games back of Fargo-Moorhead for first in the North Division and 5-1/2 games back of Gary SouthShore RailCats in the wild-card hunt.

ON THE HOOK

The Goldeyes close out the three-game series against the Explorers tonight. First pitch is 7 p.m. at Shaw Park.
