The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released Travis Rudolph after the import wide receiver was arrested for first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder with a firearm in Florida on Wednesday.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office responded to a double shooting shortly after midnight in Lake Park — a small Florida town. One male was transported to the hospital and another was found dead. The name of the victim and the motive are currently unknown.
Rudolph is being held in Palm Beach County jail with no bond and is expected to appear before a judge Thursday.
Rudolph, 25, was signed by the Blue and Gold in December 2019 but never played a snap for the club as the 2020 CFL season was cancelled. Prior to signing in Winnipeg, the Florida State product played in the NFL with the New York Giants in 2017 where he had eight receptions for 101 yards in seven games as an undrafted rookie. The following season, he was signed by the Miami Dolphins, but tore his ACL in the first practice and never played another snap in the NFL.
"The organization was made aware of Travis Rudolph’s arrest this morning and he has subsequently been released," Darren Cameron, the senior director of public and player relations for the Bombers, wrote on Twitter.firstname.lastname@example.orgTwitter: @TaylorAllen31
Eighteen years old and still in high school, Taylor got his start with the Free Press on June 1, 2011. Well, sort of.
