BEAUSEJOUR, Man. - Shannon Birchard's dream run at her second Manitoba Scotties will roll on for at least one more game.

On Saturday, in the last draw of the round robin, Birchard narrowly defeated fourth seed Michelle Montford, snagging a single in the 10th end to break a stalemate and take a 6-5 win.

With that, the 21-year-old former Manitoba junior champion finished at 6-1 on the week, and locked up a place in today's 2-vs-2 Page playoff game.

That's a promising result for Birchard, who is in her first year of full-time women's play. She will face Cathy Overton-Clapham in the Page for the right to move on to Sunday's semifinal.

In the top playoff, top seed Kristy McDonald will face Kerri Einarson for a chance to pass straight to Sunday's 1:30 p.m. final. McDonald actually lost her only game of the week on Saturday, falling 9-5 to Joelle Brown.

But McDonald had already locked up the top spot in her round robin group with a win over Birchard.

It was also a fine finish for Christine MacKay, a 20-year-old making her Manitoba Scotties debut. She wrapped her week with a 7-2 win over Kim Link, and a 4-3 record.

Today's Page playoffs start at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on Sportsnet One.
