Highlight Reel Bruins 5/ Jets 3

Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 10/1/2012 (2046 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.

Big picture

Against the defending Cup champs, the Jets did much right but to get the points, much more was required. The defeat left the Jets 1-3 on their four-game road trip to start January, not a particularly positive follow-up to a fine December. The Jets remained in ninth in the Eastern Conference, one point back of the eighth-place Pittsburgh Penguins.

Little picture

Three Wininpeg leads were not enough to make the Bruins go away. Not by a longshot. Jets goals by Andrew Ladd, Blake Wheeler and Eric Fehr, with his first of the season, had the visitors in the lead through two periods, at 3-2. But Nathan Horton (eight seconds in), Tyler Seguin and Benoit Pouliot scored within the first 6:41 of the third, all on a variety of soft plays by the Jets, to decide the affair.

The Jets' line of Bryan Little, Ladd and Wheeler did not get the coverages right on the opening faceoff of the third, and Johnny Oduya and Toby Enstrom on defence were unable to diffuse the situation that saw David Krejci collect a puck in the Jets corner and make a spin pass to Horton for the goal after just eight seconds. That turned the tide decidedly.
